CALGARY – Calgarians are being advised to take advantage of flu shot clinics opening up around the city on Monday.

Alberta Health Services says all Albertans 6 months and older should get a flu shot to protect themselves, and also prevent the bug from spreading.

While most people who become sick with influenza will get better, it causes about 20,000 hospitalizations and about 4,000 deaths in Canada each year.

Flu shots are available at public immunization clinics. Some pharmacies and physicians will also be allowed to give the shots.
