French Canadians celebrate culture in Regina

Members of Regina’s French community gathered today to celebrate Canada’s French culture and heritage.

Saskatchewan’s Francophone flag was raised during a ceremony at City Hall Monday morning. It was part of Les Rendez-Vous de la Francophonie, which runs from March 5 to 21. The two weeks are a chance to celebrate French Canadian culture in Canada.

Monique Marchildon of L’association Canadienne-Francaise de Regina says these two weeks are not just about Francophone people alone, but also about the work they do with the connections in the community.

“It’s an occasion for us to also celebrate the ties that we have with all the other people in Regina,” Marchildon said. “Over the years the Francophone people have been working together with all kinds of cultures.”
