SASKATOON – The largest community art project in Saskatoon has been unveiled at St. Paul’s Hospital.
New life has been breathed in to a fading mural in front of the hospital with the help of community members, sponsors and staff.
More than 200 people provided input into the creation on the “One Earth, One Family” mural that was unveiled on Friday.
Representatives at St. Paul’s say the art reflects the many people, flags, languages and even pets that make up the community.
“They really wanted to keep that essence of what that original mural was–with, there was a lot of community kids who came and did those separate little pieces. So we wanted to see that with our process, and we worked so closely with a lot of the schools in the neighbourhood,” said Tammy Krueckl, Saskatoon Community Youth Arts Programming
The rejuvenation of the mural is part of the hospital’s healing arts program, which was developed to foster health of patients, families and caregivers.
