TORONTO – A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of Eastern Ontario, with the region facing up to 50 mm of rain Thursday afternoon.
Environment Canada issued the watch early Thursday afternoon, indicating that lines of intense thunderstorms combined with a passing cold front could lead to thunderstorms with strong winds of up to 90 km/hour and heavy precipitation between 30 to 50 mm.
The following regions are currently under a severe thunderstorm watch:

Belleville – Quinte – Nurthumberland
Brockville – Leeds and Grenville
Ottawa
Cornwall – Morrisburg
Kingston – Prince Edward
Prescott and Russell
Smith Falls – Lanark – Sharbot Lake
Stirling – Tweed – South Frontenac
