Updated: City, RM of Sherwood working together on land agreement

REGINA – Expansion of Regina’s boundaries could be a step closer, as the city and the RM of Sherwood have reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The agreement presents a united front when it comes to development around the city.

“We have a strong relationship, a level of trust we didn’t have before,” said Mayor Michael Fougere at a joint news conference Tuesday.

“I have no problem saying I believe we’re going to come to a satisfactory conclusion on all matters,” said RM of Sherwood Reeve Kevin Eberle.

The latest map shows what used to be called the rural/urban fringe is now a joint planning area, where the city and RM are considered equal partners.

“Right now we have two different pairs of glasses to look at the region,” Fougere said. “We want to have one pair of glasses.”
