EDMONTON- Crews are cleaning up after a trail derailment in Lloydminster Friday afternoon.

Canadian Pacific spokesperson Ed Greenberg says seven cars carrying crude oil derailed when the train was moving out of the Lloydminster rail yard.

The incident happened just after 5:00 p.m., in the area of 52nd Street and 40th Avenue.

According to Greenberg, no leaks were reported and no one was injured when the cars left the tracks.

“At this point there’s no leaks of any sorts, so it’s a case of waiting for the CP employees to come and see how they’re going to deal with picking them back up,” said Lloydminster Fire Chief Todd Gustavson.

Greenberg said Saturday one locomotive and two of the seven cars that were involved in the incident were moved away from the area. The remaining five cars are being prepared to be moved out of the area as well, Greenberg said via email.
