Southern Manitoba hammered by wicked weekend weather

WINNIPEG — Mother Nature wreaked havoc on southern Manitoba once again Sunday night.

A powerful storm system swept across the region bringing heavy rains, winds and  funnel clouds.

Environment Canada has confirmed that a tornado touched down in a field southeast of Killarney.

Funnel clouds were spotted near Melita and two possible tornadoes have been reported near Waskada and Goodlands, Man.

Deloraine was frantically pumping water out of town just after the dinner hour Sunday after the storm dumped more than 50 milimetres of rain in less than an hour.

In Winnipeg streets were soaked and the sky lit up with lightning, as the thunderstorm passed through Sunday night at around 9 p.m.

No injuries or power outages have been reported.
