CALGARY – There’s nothing like an upbeat country song to get you geared up for Stampede.

When The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth gets underway, the beat of country music can be heard rumbling from every corner of the city.

But which country song is the unofficial anthem of the Stampede?

According to respondents from a Global Calgary web poll, the answer is Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks.

We posted a web poll on Thursday, asking cowpoke to vote for their favorite unofficial Stampede Anthem – and the iconic country tune won!

It’s fitting that a Garth Brooks tune would take top spot, as the superstar helped celebrate the Stampede centennial in 2012, with a concert at the Saddledome.
