TORONTO – Power has been restored at Trillium Hospital nearly eight hours after it lost power Wednesday afternoon.
Enersource, the local electricity distribution company in Mississauga, said on Twitter the “outage at Trillium Hospital was due to an equipment fault and is not related to Toronto Hydro or Monday’s storm issues.”
Patti Cochrane, the acting CEO of Trillium Health Partners, said to reporters Wednesday evening that air conditioning had to be turned off and portable fans brought in to combat rising temperatures.
The hospital was receiving power from generators but because of the tenuous supply, wasn’t accepting new patients at the time.
Elective surgeries also had to be cancelled for the duration of the outage.
The hospital also lost power on Monday during the storm but regained full power early on Tuesday morning.
