REGINA – There’s a lot of buzz around the University of Regina after it got some air time on competition show Big Brother 15.

Contestant Elissa Slater was seen sporting a U of R Cougars sweatshirt on the hit show this week. Her husband is from White City, a bedroom community just outside of Regina.

Slater, a North Carolina-based nutritionist, has a son with her husband, who runs a business in Canada. She is also the sister of Big Brother 13 winner Rachel Reilly.

The U of R bookstore expects to see a spike in sales from the exposure, and though the sweatshirt Slater is wearing is actually an older style, store buyer Peter Adams says he’s going to order more of them in anticipation of the demand.

“We’re actually delighted simply because the Cougar clothing is a major part of our sales at the University of Regina bookstore,” Adams said. “But it also represents the image of our Cougar teams, which we’re extremely proud of on campus.”

Slater also brought along some Saskatchewan Roughrider swag also but the show doesn’t let any sort of branded clothing be worn, except for schools.

In Canada, Big Brother airs on Global.
