BLOG: Eight days in Navy SEALS bootcamp

Jordan Witzel endured eight days of non-stop physical training during a Navy SEALS bootcamp in Virginia Beach. Global News

Global Meteorologist Jordan Witzel faced the challenge of a lifetime in June, putting himself in the boots of every soldier who has sacrificed for our country.

Jordan survived eight days of non-stop physical training during a Navy SEALS bootcamp in Virginia Beach – all in an effort to raise money for the Calgary Poppy Fund and the Veteran’s Food Bank.

Funds raised will help support our local veterans and their families.

The following is a blog written by Jordan, after he returned home:

Finding it in yourself to push through all the physical challenges while questioning why you’re even doing it. And every day brought a breakthrough in your mind.

It became more of a mundane process as the week went on and larger tasks seemed easier to do. Carrying a log on your shoulder for 10 kilometres was no longer too much to ask, hundreds of pushups and pull-ups were a process that would be completed if you simply kept at them.

And it was easy to find peace in a 5 kilometer run on the beach. I look forward to sharing more of my experience at Navy SEALs boot camp with you. Out of respect to those affected by the floods and because of the upcoming Stampede, we plan to start sharing my experience on air starting July 15th.
