CALGARY- Diploma examinations will proceed as scheduled at Calgary Catholic School District high schools, despite flooding throughout the city.

St. Mary’s High School is one of the schools that was badly affected by rising waters, so those students are asked to go to Bishop Carroll High School to write their diploma exams at the regularly scheduled times. Visit www.cssd.ab.ca/stmarys/ for more information.

Alberta Education is working with the Calgary Catholic School District to provide flexibility on the exams given the current realities within Calgary and surrounding areas due to extreme flooding. They will be working with schools to be able to provide students with suitable alternatives for their diploma exams if needed.

“CCSD recognizes that some students may be experiencing extenuating circumstances that may prevent them from being able to write their exams at the regularly scheduled time and location,” said spokesperson Janet Corsten in a statement. “In each individual case, students with extenuating circumstances are asked to work directly with their school principal to determine the best option for that student’s specific situation.”

CCSD will continue to work with Alberta Education, students and families to ensure appropriate accommodations are made given the school closures and the severity of the flooding situation.
