The BC MotoCross Championships returns to Bear Creek Motocross Track

The BC MotoCross Championships returns to Bear Creek Motocross Track in Kelowna for its ninth round on Sunday, June 16.

Kelowna-based BigSteelBox has put up $9,000 in prize money for the pro championships, a portion of that will be handed out in the hills at Bear Creek this weekend.

The championship series visits the Okanagan Valley for the last race before the final championship round set for Chillawack on June 23.

Admission is $10 with the racing starting at 10 a.m. The event is expected to draw more than a 100 entrants. The all-ages championships presents 27 race classes including pros, juniors, ladies, 40-plus and a quad event.

This is the second round held at Kelowna during the championships. Heading into the race this weekend, Lee Coutts from Courtenay leads the points total in both Pro Open and Pro Lite classes, followed by Zane Wyper of Vancouver.

Top of the ladies class is Rachel Springman of Vancouver.

The ten-round championship series featured competitions at Ashcroft, Chilliwack, Kamloops, Kelowna, Mission, Pemberton and Victoria.
