RCMP warn about escort service scam that leads to robberies

CALGARY- RCMP in Red Deer have issued a warning about two robberies that are linked to people using online escort services.

Both of the male victims contacted a woman through an internet escort site, and agreed on a place to meet. When they arrived, two male suspects threatened them with a weapon, then stole their money and credit cards. A victim’s vehicle was also stolen.

In one case, one of the victims was held captive before managing to escape and call police.

It’s believed two men and one woman are responsible for both robberies.
