On Sunday, June 9, it was seven years since a Fort St. John woman, and mother of five, was reported missing. At the time of her disappearance, Shirley Lee Clethroe was 45 years old.

Fort St. John RCMP launched an investigation on June 17, 2006, and found out Clethroe had not shown up for work, or spoken to friends or family. She was last seen on June 9.

Clethroe is described as an aboriginal woman with long dark hair, 5 ft 3″ tall, weighing 120 lbs, with a small scar on the left side of her mouth. She also usually wore glasses.

Her sister Bev and and her family have written a letter about Clethroe’s disappearance;

My sister Shirley Clethroe has been missing since June 2006. She is dearly missed by so many people, friends and family. The stress and unanswered questions has been painful for everyone. Everyday we think about her and that laugh and smile. She was so kind to everyone no matter who you were.

I wish this could be easier, I wish she would just come home to us. It’s so hard trying to explain to her grand children, nieces and nephews why she isn’t here, but we all have photos in our houses.

We would like to ask everyone to try and remember if they heard anything about Shirley, a comment made, anything that may help us. Please help Shirley come home , we will not give up, ever. We need to know. This heart ache will never ease without any answers, so please, think of Shirley and help bring her home. We love and miss her so much.

At this time the RCMP have not ruled out that foul play may have been a factor in Clethroe’s disappearance, however at this time the file remains as a missing person case.

The Fort St. John RCMP have exhausted numerous means of investigation and would like to strongly urge anyone with any information in relation to the disappearance of Shirley Clethroe to come forward.
