Saskatoon fans ecstatic to have Riders training camp

SASKATOON – It’s an exciting time for the players getting back on the field, but it might be an even bigger deal for the fans who “Bleed Green.”

The start of every new year brings new optimism, the 13th man has made its presence felt at Riders training camp in Saskatoon.

It’s like Christmas morning for Bob Bellamy.

“This is something my wife and I have done for about 15 years we always come to practice so we’ve gone down to Regina. You forget about a lot of things, you don’t have to worry about anything, just have some fun,” said Rider fan Bob Bellamy.

Just a few days into camp and already players are making an impression on Riderville.

Fans have been flocking to Griffiths Stadium and players are taking notice.

“Saskatchewan is football heart of Canada and our fans come out every day to show their support. You couldn’t ask for a better place to play,” said Rider quarterback Darian Durant.

“When you play for this team in this province you know that throughout the province no matter where you go, where there from, they’re going to come support us. So to get the chance to come up here and have camp this is my first opportunity, it’s nice to see all the fans coming out and supporting us,” said Riders slotback Chris Getzlaf.

Already there’s a lot of buzz around the team and with the Grey Cup in Regina this year, optimism is high.
