A 20-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after being pulled by friends from the Thompson River in Kamloops early Sunday morning.

Mounties said the young man was partying with friends before deciding to go for a swim at around 3 a.m.

A short time later, his friends noticed him floating face down in the water.

They pulled him out and performed CPR.

He has been taken to RoyalInlandHospital where he remains in critical condition.
