Public asked for ideas to stop bullying in schools, communities

REGINA – Saskatchewan residents can have their say on ways to stop bullying in the province.

Public and online consultations start Monday as the government looks for ideas on anti-bullying strategies.

Saskatoon member of the legislature Jennifer Campeau, who is responsible for the anti-bullying initiative, says it’s important to work together to find solutions.

The public consultations will be held over the first two weeks of June in North Battleford, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Yorkton, Swift Current, Regina, Weyburn and Saskatoon.

In April, the Saskatchewan government and the Opposition NDP unanimously passed a motion that they hope will help stop cyberbullies.

The motion said the province supports federal efforts that include changes to the Criminal Code that would make it an offence to share intimate images without consent.
