A violent explosion in an industrial plant triggered a fire, sending 17 people to hospital and producing a thick, dark cloud of toxic smoke Thursday. The incident left several people with serious injuries, including five with severe burns. It occurred in Quebec’s Eastern Townships at a facility belonging to Neptune Technologies & Bioressources, which produces health products derived from marine life like Omega-3.
