TORONTO – There’s still no apology from Premier Kathleen Wynne about the rising costs of the cancelled gas plants.
In an interview on Focus Ontario, Wynne says she regrets the costs of the cancelled gas plant but did not apologize.
“I am very regretful that we’re in this situation and that public dollars have had to be spent in this way,” Wynne said. “It shouldn’t have happened and it shouldn’t happen again.”

The CEO of the Ontario Power Authority, Colin Andersen, testified before a Queen’s Park committee on Tuesday that the cost of the cancellation of the Oakville gas plant cost approximately $310 million.
The government’s estimation had previously pegged the cost at approximately $40 million.
The Auditor General has estimated the cost of closing the Mississauga gas plant at approximately $275 million.
Wynne said during her interview on Focus Ontario that she is working to implement a “process” to ensure a similar situation can’t happen again.
John Tory, Co-Host of Focus Ontario and the former leader of the Progressive Conservatives said that apologizing for the cancelled gas plants might not damage Wynne`s reputation.
“I believe one day she will, because I believe one day she must.” Tory said. “It won’t solve the problem, it won’t get the money back, but it will kind of indicate to people that ‘yes, I really get this.’”
