“You never have a second chance to make a first impression,” notes etiquette expert Nancy Kosik.
She offers some invaluable tips for online dating – here’s a quick rundown:
1. Don’t use your real name
People shouldn’t offer their real names from the get-go, as a quiuck Internet search may provide further information you may want strangers to know.
2. Do include a recent photo
Although many of us would prefer that someone is interested based on other attributes, the reality is that the attraction needs to be there. Kosic highly recommends using a recent photo and if possible, include an appropriate full body shot. Remember that what image you choose will attract a similar type of person.
3. Be truthful
If there are opportunities to include an original headline or a call out quote that can highlight your unique attributes.
