The catchy and infectious rap rhymes the praises of saving money at thrift stores, while still looking sharp.

“Ever since hearing it I definitely wanted to try and thrift more,” said Melissa Langdon, a university student in Winnipeg.

The song is being credited with a surge in sales at bargain stores in Manitoba.

“We see a lot more 20-somethings,” said Deb Salyn, who works at the Value Village in Brandon. “More of our increase has been in the evenings when people are out of school.”

Salyn told Global News some of the shoppers are looking for a style straight out of the song’s music video.

“I saw a group of three guys all shopping for the puffy collared jackets and the really tight jeans,” she said.

Value Village locations in Winnipeg also noticed an increase since the song was released last summer.

“We will catch the odd customer on the sales floor singing along to the song,” said Rene Keating, a store manager with Value Village in Westwood.
