Texting makes you shallow, says University of Winnipeg study

Smart phones seem to be the preferred method of communication these days and you don’t’ even have to dial.

Young or old, texting has become a social epidemic.

A new study from the University of Winnipeg suggests you can tell a lot about a person’s personality simply from the number of texts they send.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The study found that students who are “heavy” texters, and send more than a hundred texts a day, were 30 per cent less likely to think that leading an ethical, principled life was important in comparison to teens who texted 50 times or less a day.

The author of the study admits further research is required, and of course not everyone agrees with the findings.

Scott McLean reports.
