Two people were injured at Southeastern Louisiana University after shots were fired on campus Friday morning, officials said.

The school tweeted that there is no current threat to campus and university police are investigating the incident.

The victims suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the school.

School spokeswoman Erin Cowser said the incident happened at 3 a.m. Friday near an assembly hall where basketball games and other sports events are held.

Cowser said it appears that students were involved, but it is unclear whether the two people injured were students.

No suspects are in custody at the time.

The university is about 94 kilometres northwest of New Orleans.
