Kyle Fredericks not guilty in Annapolis Valley prescription drug death

KENTVILLE, N.S. – A provincial court judge has acquitted a Nova Scotia man of criminal negligence causing death in connection with the death of another man two years ago.

Twenty-three-year-old Kyle David Fredericks was accused of giving Joshua Graves Dilaudid that, combined with alcohol, led to his death.

Judge Alan Tufts said Thursday in Kentville provincial court that the Crown had not proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the pill Graves had with him that night and that he took came from Fredericks.

He also said there was no evidence that Graves did or didn’t take Dilaudid from any other sources earlier or later.

Tufts also said there was no evidence as to the effects the dosage of Dilaudid would have on Graves.

Asked by reporters if he had anything to say after being released from custody, Fredericks, drinking from a juice box, said “Not really”, before getting into the back seat of a waiting car and driving off.
