The world’s largest snowball?

An Okanagan ski hill has sculpted what may be the world’s largest snowball.
A snowball made at Silver Star Mountain Resort in Vernon measures 3.6 metres tall and weighs 18,000 kg.
Robin Baycroft, spokesperson for Silver Star, says the resort is in contact with the Guinness Book of World Records, though he is not sure if it will make the record books this year.
“The process [to make it official] takes a few months. We got the idea two weeks ago,” Baycroft said.
He notes land surveyors were at Silver Star Friday to get an official reading of the snowball’s dimensions and the resort will likely make a video submission to the Guinness Book of World Records.
“We’re having a bit of fun with it more than anything,” he said with a laugh. “Unofficially it is the largest snowball in the world right now.”
Baycroft says the snowball is a promotion by Silver Star Resort for B.C. Family Day and he hopes it helps showcase the various activities that can be done at Silver Star as part of the long weekend.
He notes that the resort may try to make a more official snowball endeavour next year.
