The great thing about having kids, over and above all that rewarding crap old parents try to sell future parents on, is they are experts in the latest technology.

If you want to know how the newest gadget works, ask your kids.

If you want to sync your device with your pacemaker, ask your kids.

It really is the only generation gap that has favoured the young, normally they are just misunderstood.

Here’s an example of how their lives are much different than ours…

My 10-year-old son runs up to me this past weekend with something he had found in an old desk, and asks, ‘what is this?’

What he had in his hand was a piece of old technology.

He had never seen this before.

He played around with it, and with his experience eventually figured it all out, and had it performing functions I never knew it had originally.

It was as if Christmas had come early, he played with it all night.

What did he find? An early digital camera.

He acted like I had given him some sort of high tech dinosaur bone from another planet, with a flash. (I’m still seeing spots!)

What makes you feel even more inadequate is, there were early shots of him on it.

Scott Thompson is the host of the Scott Thompson Show on AM 900 CHML.
