Fans lined up by the hundreds and waited for hours for the chance to get into a unique Harry Potter-themed pop-up shop in Edmonton’s Highlands neighbourhood on Saturday.

The event featured local handmade goods with a Harry Potter theme- ranging from butter-beer chocolate to candles, towels, bath bombs and home décor.

“Inside our store we have all of these amazing handmade products that people all over Alberta and Canada have made for us- that are all Harry Potter themed,” Julie Morrison said.

Morrison is the owner of local boutique Majesty and Friends-, and organized the event.

“I love J.K. Rowling’s imagination and this world she created just from her imagination. Everyone can take part in it,” Morrison said.

She added she wanted a way to promote more locally made goods.

“I’m a handmade vendor. I make everything from scratch,” she said. “People in Edmonton love to shop local.”

Combining the ideas was a success.

Hundreds lined the street Saturday afternoon, some waiting up to three hours to check out the unique assortment of goods.
