The City of Hamilton has extended a helping hand to sister city Sarasota following its brush with Hurricane Irma.

In a statement, Mayor Fred Eisenberger said he passed along his sympathies to Sarasota’s mayor during a phone call as well as an offer of assistance.

“I offered Mayor Freeland Eddie and her city administration any help that is needed,” the release reads.

“She said her administration is assessing the damage.”

Eisenberger says Hamilton will work with all levels of government and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the United States to coordinate a response if needed.

According to the city, 36 workers from local electricity distributor Alectra are already on their way Georgia to help restore power.
