Peterborough County OPP are trying to find out why a boat crashed into the shoreline of Gold Lake in Trent Lakes Saturday.
Around 1:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to the scene of Gold Lake near Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park after a boat had run aground.
Police say witnesses told them the vessel was traveling at high speed before losing control and colliding with land.
A 27-year-old man from Cambridge, Ont. — the boat operator, police say — was seriously hurt and transferred to a Kingston trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, where he remained Monday in serious condition.
