The driver of a taxi that fatally struck a senior in Scarborough in June has been charged.
Toronto police were called to the scene at Kingston Road and Ridgemoor Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on June 3. Police say the victim, 70, had been attempting to cross Kingston Road when she was struck by a vehicle attempting to make a left turn.
The woman was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. She died the following day.
Police did not name the 59-year-old driver, who is facing charges of careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian. He is expected to appear in court on Sept. 14.
