Happy Birthday to my son Kurtis who turns ten today.
Here is a proud Dad moment.
Kurt started playing baseball this year.
He and his buddy Robbie were recently called up to play with a more experienced team who were down a few players.
Normally call ups do not pitch as most are just learning.
When asked if he wanted to pitch Kurt said yes, unknowing to us in the stands.
He took to the pitcher’s mound, Eileen and I just looked at each other.
Is this a warm up, we thought?
He’s certainly not pitching because, he has never pitched before!
Someone’s going to get killed!
Long story short he strikes out the first two batters, but then loads the bases with walks.
Oh my.
He gets himself out of trouble off a short hit to his left, grabbing the ball for his final out at first.
Made it!
It wasn’t the good game he had that made me proud, but the confidence he had in his abilities to have fun and get it done.
