SIU says no charges after woman in wheelchair hit by London police cruiser

No charges will be laid after a London police vehicle and a woman in a motorized wheelchair collided last winter.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) announced on Thursday that its investigation showed criminal counts weren’t warranted.

The incident happened on Jan. 16, 2017, at approximately 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of Adelaide Street North and Dundas Street.

The 59-year-old woman who was hit suffered an arm injury as a result of the collision.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates incidents involving police where there’s been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
