Essex OPP say a little boy continues to fight for his life in hospital after he was found in a backyard pool on Tuesday.
Police and other emergency crews were called to an address on Dresden Place in Tecumseh at around 7:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a two-year-old boy found floating in the water.
Paramedics treated and transported the toddler to Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit with a police escort, and the little boy remains in critical condition.
Officers also apologized for an incorrect update saying the child had died.
Officials say there was another young boy at the same Detroit hospital admitted under very similar circumstances and there was a miscommunication about their status.
