London’s Fanshawe College receiving $2.6 M in funding from province

Fanshawe College is getting a multi-million dollar boost from the province as the government celebrates the 50th anniversary of Ontario’s college system.

MPP for London North Centre Deb Matthews, who is also the Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development, made the announcement at the college Friday morning.

The $2.6-million grant will help the college create a state-of-the art cybersecurity lab in the School of Information Technology, replace and upgrade academic equipment, modernize classrooms and install solar panels that will provide a working lab environment for students.

“This investment allows us to proceed with many initiatives that will enhance the student learning experience, ensuring our graduates are well prepared for rewarding careers,” said Fanshawe College president Peter Devlin in a news release. “Both the College and Student Union thank our provincial government partners for their continued support of Fanshawe.”

Matthews said the funding is part of a province-wide commemorative investment of $50 million in Ontario’s 24 publicly assisted colleges, to enhance the student experience.
