Sinkhole closes part of Highway 25 near Saint-Roch de l’Achigan

A giant sinkhole off Highway 25 near Saint-Roch de l’Achigan in the Lanaudière region, north-east of Montreal, caused major traffic headaches during rush hour Thursday.

Quebec provincial police were on the scene to mitigate traffic.

Transports Quebec has closed the highway northbound between routes 158 and 339, where the hole initially started forming last Friday.

The southbound lanes were also closed as a precaution.

There is no timeline as to when that portion of the highway will reopen.
