Police have confirmed that a woman who was discovered lying in the snow near a bike path in a Verdun park Sunday morning has died.
Montreal police received a 911 call at 7:40 a.m. reporting that a woman had been found unconscious in a park, near the intersection of Lasalle Boulevard and Leclair Street.
Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture said a passerby made the discovery and called 911.
The woman was rushed to hospital where she later died.
Investigators at the scene requested the assistance of the canine unit and forensic identification specialists in the hopes of discovering evidence that could help police understand the circumstances leading up to the discovery of the victim.
While police were initially looking at several hypotheses, Couture said Sunday afternoon that “nothing indicates a criminal act.”
The investigation has been transferred to the Coroner’s Office. The coroner is now tasked with determining the cause of death.
The woman has yet to be identified.
