New bike lanes coming to downtown Hamilton
Another contentious set of bike lanes will soon appear in downtown Hamilton.
The city’s public works committee has approved installation along Bay Street, creating what Ward 2 Councillor Jason Farr says will be “a significantly used piece of north-south infrastructure.”
The $600,000 cost is being shared by the city and the province.
The Bay Street bike lanes will intersect seven east-west cycling corridors, but Ward 8’s Terry Whitehead is upset that no public information meeting was held on the mountain.
He stresses that everybody must be consulted on projects that impact all stakeholders.
