Police are searching for four suspects wanted for allegedly ransacking an Ajax, Ont. home, throwing a 12-year-old girl and four family members to the ground and demanding drugs and money at gunpoint during a targeted home invasion.

Durham Regional Police said an unidentified woman rang the doorbell of a home in the Rossland Road West and Church Street North area around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The 12-year-old girl opened the door to speak with the woman and police said three men with face coverings “immediately” barged into the home, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Police said the suspects then ordered the victims to provide them with drugs and money and forced the girl, two teenagers and two adults to the ground.

“We didn’t have any injuries, but don’t discard the fact that this is traumatic,” said Const. Dave Selby, adding investigators believe the incident was targeted.

“They’re saying it’s not random and by that they mean that there might have been an influence that led them that way but not from the family members that were in there that were victims of this.”

The suspects were not located despite an extensive search of the area involving officers and a K-9 unit.

The suspects are described by police as follows:

  1. White female aged 16 to 20 years old standing 5’4″ tall with blonde hair and a slim build.
  2. Black male aged 15 to 20 years old standing 5’8″ tall with dark clothing and a slim build.
