An overnight fire in a residential building in Granby, 80 kilometres east of Montreal, claimed the life of one person.
The fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. ET Sunday in a single-family home on Bois-Franc Street.
The victim’s body was discovered by firefighters after the blaze was brought under control.
The cause of the fire is not known.
Although a young woman was known to live in the house, the victim has yet to be identified.
Quebec provincial police said an autopsy will be needed before a formal identification can be made.
