Controversial filmmaker and pot-stirrer Michael Moore was one of the only people to accurately predict the Donald Trump presidential election victory, and now he’s made another bold forecast: that “something crazy,” like the U.S. Electoral College voting system being ruled unconstitutional, will deny Trump the presidency before his scheduled inauguration.
Moore made the declaration on Wednesday’s Late Night With Seth Meyers, saying that Trump still has six weeks before he’s sworn into office, and lots of things can happen within that time frame.

He made pointed reference to Hillary Clinton‘s 2.7 million-vote lead in the popular vote (despite her electoral-vote loss), and calls for an end to what he deems an “arcane” system.
“He’s going to not have a mandate, the majority of our fellow Americans do not want him in the White House, but because of an arcane law from the 1700s to placate the slave states … He’s not president of the United States yet,” said Moore to Meyers.

In order for the Electoral College to deny Trump the presidency, it would involve a lot of turning-tail, which is highly unlikely.

Atlanta lawyer Jerry Sims says the only way this could happen is if Clinton herself challenges the electoral college system as unconstitutional, as he explains to The Independent:
“A candidate who lost the popular vote has been elected president five times in U.S. history. It has also occurred twice in the last 16 years. The 2000 election was the first time in U.S. history that the candidate losing the popular vote won a majority of the Electoral College outright. Now that has happened again in 2016.”
Sims calls the current U.S. electoral structure unconstitutional, and says a more just system would involve electors being allocated proportionately, “in order to give every vote equal dignity and weight.”
Moore also tweeted his support early Wednesday morning for #DisruptJ20, which is an organization gearing up for “a bold mobilization against the inauguration of Donald Trump.”
The #DisruptJ20 site claims it’s “bringing widespread civil resistance to the streets of Washington, D.C., through protests, direct actions, and even parties and we want you there with us.”
In a letter posted to its website, it says:
We call on all people of good conscience to join in disrupting the ceremonies. If Trump is to be inaugurated at all, let it happen behind closed doors, showing the true face of the security state Trump will preside over. It must be made clear to the whole world that the vast majority of people in the United States do not support his presidency or consent to his rule.

The organization says it doesn’t matter if you don’t live in Washington, D.C. It’s attempting to co-ordinate protests throughout the U.S. and even internationally. “If you are living outside the US, you can take action at US embassies, borders, or other symbols of neocolonial power. Our allegiance is not to “making America great again,” but to all of humanity and the planet,” the site reads.
Protests of all kinds have been occurring at a steady clip across the U.S. since Trump won the presidential election in November.
