Saskatchewan RCMP take teens into custody after 2 stolen trucks collide

RCMP recovered multiple stolen vehicles from Maidstone, Sask., on Monday and have two teenagers in custody.

Early this morning, officers were called to complaints regarding motor vehicle thefts in the town in west-central Saskatchewan.

Police officials said the suspects were involved in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of highways 16 and 21. One of the stolen trucks was found abandoned at the crash scene while another was located a short time later west of Paynton, Sask.

With help from police dog services, a 14-year-old boy was arrested without incident.

RCMP recovered a third vehicle stolen from Maidstone in the Battlefords and a took a 16-year-old boy into custody.

Officials anticipate charges will be laid. Both teens are from the Battlefords area and their names cannot be released under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A fourth stolen vehicle from the Battlefords was recovered in Maidstone. Investigators believe the persons responsible are still at large and are asking anyone with information to contact police at 306-893-4800.
