Overture with the Arts (OWTA), a West Island organization dedicated to introducing in-school and after-school art programs, is holding its first Countdown to Christmas Vendor Fair.
The aim is to to raise funds for the group’s many projects.
OWTA founder Akilah Newton created the organization seven years ago to encourage students to have a free, creative outlet to express themselves at a time when arts budgets were being slashed.
Kids can expect a full day of activities, including dance workshops and a Christmas sing-along.
The vendor fair will place an emphasis on shopping local.
“We have a variety of vendors from handmade ornaments and wreaths to candles, jewelry and clothing,” Newton said.
The fair will be held at Riverdale High School in Pierrefonds-Roxboro, in Montreal’s West Island, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 11.
The event is being sponsored by the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Party Mania, HitsFM, and Nicole’s Junior Jam.
