Lethbridge emergency crews save teen’s life after fentanyl overdose

Lethbridge police and emergency crews worked together to save the life of a 19-year-old man who suffered a fentanyl overdose this weekend.

Officers were called to reports of a suspicious person in the 500-block of 6 Avenue South at around 11 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, police found the unconscious man suffering from a fentanyl overdose. Officers say the man was not breathing and had no pulse, so police called for an ambulance and performed CPR.

The man was then taken to the Chinook Regional Hospital where he was fully revived.

Police continue to warn the public that fentanyl is deadly. They say there is no safe amount and a dosage equivalent to just two grains of salt can be fatal.

Anyone who sees a person in medical distress or suspects a fentanyl overdose is advised to call 911 immediately.
