Two people taken to hospital after Kelowna house fire

A house fire in Kelowna Saturday morning sent two people to hospital.

The Kelowna Fire Department got the call at about 7:20 a.m. reporting smoke coming from a house in the 2600 block of Springfield Road.

When crews arrived they saw light smoke coming from the eaves of a one storey home.

Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, but damage to the home was still extensive.

Two people were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation and minor burns.

Emergency support services was called to offer assistance to them once they are released.

The fire will be investigated on Monday, but the Fire Department does not suspect it was suspicious in nature.

Once again, the Kelowna Fire Department is reminding people to make sure there are working smoke detectors in their homes.
