WINNIPEG — A 40 foot tall spruce tree was lit Monday evening at Winnipeg’s City Hall.
The evergreen was decorated with more than 9,000 multi-coloured lights that were shown off during the official lighting of the city’s Christmas tree at 6 p.m.
The Colorado spruce was donated by Gail and Gerald Bordian from North Kildonan.
“We moved here in 1989 and the tree was about 10 feet tall at that time. My son would climb up on a ladder to decorate it with Christmas lights,” said Gail Bordian in a city news release. “Over the years it’s grown too big so we decided to donate it to City Hall for their Christmas tree.”
The Winnipeg Police Service Choir also performed for the crowd of (insert proper number) at City Hall.
