With the holidays just around the corner, many turn it into a time of giving.
It is a long-standing tradition in Quebec called “La Guignolée” – where non-perishable food items and money are collected to make baskets for those in need.
This year, the Sud-Ouest borough is launching their first food drive campaign.
“La Guignolée allows us to make a concrete gesture that will support our community,” said borough mayor Benoit Dorais.
“We hope that these actions and activities will inspire many – especially the youth – to develop good habits that will serve them throughout their lives”
Borough councillors, employees and volunteers will be going on a trip through the seven metro stations that span the Sud-Ouest on December 1 at 7 a.m.
If you can’t make it to that event, there are baskets set up throughout the Sud-Ouest borough from November 14 to December 9.
“We ask people to give a lot for those in need, for generosity, and for passion in the holiday season.”
