WINNIPEG — Personal health information of 197 people was “inappropriately accessed” by a former employee according to Manitoba Health.

In a news release the department said an internal investigation revealed the former employee did not have access to the database that shows medical diagnosis or prescription drug records, but did see information like names, addresses and dates of births.

Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living has apologized for the incident and says it will work to provide ongoing training to ensure they understand their responsibilities.
