A two car collision has led to the deaths of a 37-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman.

The accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Route 116 and rang Nord-Ouest in Sainte-Marie-Madeleine when the car they were in collided with another vehicle heading east, according to Sûreté du Québec spokesman Daniel Thibaudeau.

Their 13-year-old daughter was in the back seat of the car and was seriously injured.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 37-year-old man, was heading east on Route 116. He is currently in serious condition and the SQ suspects alcohol played a factor.

Thibaudeau said blood tests will be conducted to determine if the man will be charged.
