Winnipeg’s Dylan McIlrath is on the move.

The New York Rangers traded the defenceman to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. In return the Rangers acquired blueliner Steve Kampfer and a conditional seventh round draft pick.

McIlrath, 24, appeared in just one game with the Rangers this season. He also dressed in four games for the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack. In 34 games with the Rangers last season McIlrath scored two goals to go along with two assists. He also racked up 64 penalty minutes.

The former member of the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors and the midget Winnipeg Warriors was selected by the Rangers in the first round, 10th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
